Expert Assessor for Photovoltaic Systems

Cause analysis, evidence preservation and expert reports on damage to PV systems. For insurers, loss adjusters and operators, throughout Germany and neighbouring countries.

Who this is for

You are handling a claim on a photovoltaic system and need a reliable statement on cause, extent and cost. We assess rooftop and ground-mounted systems of any size, from a single-family home to a solar park, and answer your questions of evidence so the settlement can rest on them.

Typical damage patterns

  • Glass breakage and cell damage after hail, storm or mechanical impact
  • Hot spots, delamination and power loss on individual strings
  • Installation and planning errors: module clamping, in-roof mounting, string conductor loops
  • Animal bite on cables and connectors
  • Theft of modules and copper cables at ground-mounted plants
  • Yield loss after partial failure or standstill

Questions of evidence we answer

  • Is the reported damage attributable to the stated event, or to ageing, installation errors or lack of maintenance?
  • Does the reported extent of damage match the findings on site?
  • Are the submitted quotations and invoices damage-related and in line with market rates?
  • Is a complete replacement technically necessary, or is repair of the affected components sufficient?
  • Is there a recourse claim against the installer, planner or manufacturer?

How we examine

Systematic exclusion logic: every conceivable cause is examined individually and ruled out with reasons until the most probable one remains.

  1. File review: claim notification, system documentation, monitoring data
  2. Site inspection with documentation of the trace pattern on modules, cabling and substructure
  3. Exclusion diagnostics: examine every conceivable cause individually and rule it out with reasons
  4. Research of external events: weather and lightning location data for the site and time of loss
  5. Laboratory examination and age determination of damaged components where the on-site findings are insufficient
  6. Standards check, including DIN VDE 0100-712 and DIN VDE 0105-100
  7. Cost review: quotations and invoices against market rates, separation of items not related to the loss

The result

You receive a report with findings, cause analysis by the exclusion method and an answer to each question of evidence. In addition, the verified amount of loss on a current-value or repair basis and, on request, the yield loss calculated from feed-in data.

Frequently asked questions

How soon can a site visit take place?

Once instructed, we arrange the appointment directly with the policyholder. We travel throughout Germany and neighbouring countries. An appointment within a few working days is the rule.

What do you need from us to start?

The claim notification with the questions of evidence, the policyholder's contact details and, where available, system documentation, photos and quotations. We request missing documents ourselves.

Do you also review quotations and invoices without a site visit?

Yes. For smaller losses or a clear file, we prepare a statement on the plausibility of cause and cost from the documents alone.
